ABOUT Thank you for visiting my Virtual Gallery. I appreciate very much your interest in my art, and in Cuban art in general.I was born in Havana, Cuba, and lived there until 1999 when I emigrated to the United Sates. Currently I live and work in Miami, Florida.As a child I would spend long hours drawing. At 13, a profesor of art saw my artworks and decided to help me further my career by accepting me in his workshop. A few years later I entered the prestigious San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, where I was placed directly at the fourth-year level of the program.In my Paintings I reflect my experiences and my emotions. In most cases the subject matter is based on both my memories of Cuban landscapes and my imagination. The present collection is a sample of works created over the past several years.Since the launch of my virtual gallery i have received many e-mails offering advise, marketing expertise, shared experiences and most importantly encouraging words. Damien Cruz received the honor of being Selected by the Florida Governor as the Featured Artist for the 2011 National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration in Florida. Damien participated in two Simultaneous exhibitions at the State Capitol Rotunda and the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee, Florida.Below: A MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR RICK SCOTTFlorida Hispanic Heritage Month 2011September 15 - October 15 "Celebrating Hispanic Leaders in Business Past, Present, and Future" The diversity of Florida's people and cultures truly makes our state one of the most vibrant in our country.
